Peut-\u00eatre plus pour longtemps gr\u00e2ce aux travaux de Nicolas Le Guen et de son \u00e9quipe. Ce train de fret parcourt plusieurs centaines de kilom\u00e8tres, depuis la r\u00e9gion isol\u00e9e du Pilbara pour acheminer du minerai fer vers les terminaux portuaires de la r\u00e9gion. Cependant, ce train est tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rent du mod\u00e8le fran\u00e7ais, notamment en ce qui concerne la technique de freinage. Contrairement au mod\u00e8le australien, qui n\u00e9cessite des modifications sur la voie, SNCF a choisi d\u2019embarquer tous les capteurs dans le train. Une volont\u00e9 qui n\u00e9cessite de construire des appareils d\u00e9di\u00e9s. En effet, impossible d\u2019importer des technologies venues de l\u2019a\u00e9ronautique et de la d\u00e9fense pour la localisation et transmission de donn\u00e9es notamment, cela co\u00fbte trop cher ! Trouver des solutions parfaitement s\u00fbres et \u00e0 un co\u00fbt raisonnable, sans modification sur la voie, c\u2019est l\u2019\u00e9quation que tentent de r\u00e9soudre Nicolas Le Guen et son \u00e9quipe, en collaboration avec la branche Innovation et Recherche de SNCF et des partenaires industriels et institutionnels. En int\u00e9grant ce projet, il a aussi modifi\u00e9 ses m\u00e9thodes de travail et favoris\u00e9 le mode plateau, c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire des bureaux qui regroupent plusieurs \u00e9quipes autour d\u2019un projet. \u00ab Une vision d\u2019ensemble est absolument n\u00e9cessaire \u00bb rappelle Nicolas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: JUSTIFY;\">\u00c0 l\u2019avenir, les trains autonomes assureront un pilotage plus pr\u00e9cis du train, un meilleur syst\u00e8me de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 et permettront de d\u00e9sengorger les lignes satur\u00e9es. Des trains autonomes pourront r\u00e9duire le temps de r\u00e9action lors du freinage par exemple et ainsi permettre d\u2019augmenter le nombre de circulations en rapprochant les trains successifs. Qui de mieux plac\u00e9 alors qu\u2019un sp\u00e9cialiste des \u00e9tudes de s\u00fbret\u00e9 pour le relever ? Apr\u00e8s ses \u00e9tudes, Nicolas travaille pour une filiale du groupe EADS sur des missions de s\u00fbret\u00e9 nucl\u00e9aire. Un premier poste int\u00e9ressant mais dans lequel il ne souhaite pas s\u2019enfermer. La dimension de service public et d\u2019utilit\u00e9 soci\u00e9tale de SNCF l\u2019attire. Travailler \u00e0 rendre plus simple le quotidien de milliers de voyageurs est un d\u00e9fi passionnant et un r\u00f4le dans lequel il se sent utile. Avec plus d\u2019une dizaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es pass\u00e9es \u00e0 SNCF, il constate que \u00ab l\u2019entreprise [lui a] permis de faire des choses tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rentes, ce qui n\u2019est pas possible partout. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: JUSTIFY;\">Il int\u00e8gre tout d\u2019abord en 2008 le service de l\u2019ing\u00e9nierie du Mat\u00e9riel \u00e0 Oullins. Pendant quatre ans, il travaille sur des dossiers de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 li\u00e9s aux modifications r\u00e9alis\u00e9es sur les trains. Par exemple, pour permettre de r\u00e9aliser des allers-retours sans avoir \u00e0 changer la locomotive de sens, cela n\u00e9cessite de piloter le train par ses deux extr\u00e9mit\u00e9s. Pour que de telles modifications soient r\u00e9alis\u00e9es, Nicolas veille \u00e0 la conformit\u00e9 du nouvel engin. Puis, en 2012, il travaille \u00e0 l\u2019optimisation du plan de maintenance de plusieurs s\u00e9ries de trains. Il \u00e9tudie l\u2019usure des pi\u00e8ces afin de d\u00e9terminer les moments optimaux pour les remplacer ou les contr\u00f4ler. Avec son \u00e9quipe, il mettra \u00e9galement en place ce que l\u2019on nomme la maintenance discr\u00e8te. L\u2019objectif ? Plut\u00f4t que de r\u00e9aliser toutes les op\u00e9rations de maintenance les week-ends ou d\u2019immobiliser une rame durant une semaine, les op\u00e9rations sont segment\u00e9es et les temps creux de la journ\u00e9e sont utilis\u00e9s pour v\u00e9rifier le mat\u00e9riel. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette nouvelle organisation, sur une flotte de soixante trains, quand six \u00e9taient immobilis\u00e9s avec l\u2019ancien syst\u00e8me, seulement quatre le sont gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la maintenance discr\u00e8te. Un gain de temps et d\u2019argent qui permet de proposer plus de trains aux voyageurs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: JUSTIFY;\">C\u2019est gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 ses comp\u00e9tences multiples, qu\u2019il rejoint en 2016 les trois cents ing\u00e9nieurs du CIM. Durant deux ans, il valide les performances des trains de travaux neufs et v\u00e9rifie que les trains livr\u00e9s par les constructeurs tels que Plasser &amp; Theurer \/ Framafer ou Matisa correspondent au cahier des charges en termes de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 notamment. Ce passage au CIM, lui permet de s\u2019int\u00e9resser encore un peu plus \u00e0 la conduite du changement et \u00e0 l\u2019innovation. Il saisit alors l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 de travailler en Recherche et D\u00e9veloppement sur le projet de train autonome.
